Helping students at Erasmus University Rotterdam achieve their studies and entrepreneurial ambitions
30 October 2020
As we wrap up the second month of the academic year, we see student entrepreneurs on the rise! In this news update, we would like to introduce our three newest participants to the Talented Student Entrepreneur Programme.
Within this programme, we support ambitious student entrepreneurs in combining their studies and startups by providing them with a dedicated study advisor from their faculty and access to the community and network of Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship. The programme allows participants to organise their studies more flexibly according to their business needs, e.g. in terms of time schedules and class participation. This combination of educational and entrepreneurial support can help produce successful alumni that are also strong entrepreneurs.
Since the start of the academic year, we accepted these three promising young student entrepreneurs after they digitally pitched their startups to us:
Max van Oosten studies Business Administration at Rotterdam School of Management and is the founder of BijlesBob. Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, Max received plenty of support in realising his ambitions to create the “Uber for tutoring.” Going live at the start of a pandemic was a challenge for him but did not get in the way of his big plans to expand BijlesBob to the rest of the country.
Combining her passion for food and sustainability, Yasmina’s startup offers halal and plant-based meals that can be ordered twice a week. Currently, Yasmina serves 50-60 meals a week on average in regions Rotterdam and Brabant, but she aims for Freshtable to operate in multiple European countries!
Last but not least, Leonard Chapman is a student in the Master’s programme Corporate Law at Erasmus School of Law. His startup Billfish Gear provides premium fishing gear to customers located in the United States, Puerto Rico and Australia. According to Leonard, his company distinguishes itself by a strong and professional online presence.
We look forward to welcoming all new participants in the programme and offering the support that enables them to run their businesses while completing their studies at the same time.
