Hendrik Halbe is founder of the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship. In this role, which he fulfilled until December 2015, he also led the Holland Program on Entrepreneurship (HOPE) and the Valorisation Program Rotterdam (VPR). He is co-founder and board member of the foundation responsible for the Global Entrepreneurship Week the Netherlands and is director of SMO, the think tank of the Netherlands since 1968.
In addition to his activities at the Erasmus University, Hendrik is co-founder of H&K. H&K provides counseling and project management in the field of entrepreneurship, innovation and knowledge utilisation. To “practice what we preach” H&K brings innovative concepts, developed in-house, to the market and supports start-ups with coaching and seed investment.
H&K wrote and published the book Handboek Informal Investment; De Kunst van het Investeren (The Handbook for Informal Investment: The Art of Investing).
Hendrik Halbe graduated cum laude from the Master program Entrepreneurship, Strategy &
Organization Economics (ESOE) at the Erasmus University. During his studies, he was assistant to Roy Thurik, professor of economics and entrepreneurship, and active as a board member of study association EUREOS.
After finishing his studies, he and his business partner Erwin Koenraads wrote the book Internationalization of Small & Medium-Sized Enterprises: A Global Perspective.
